Mara Schanfield, EdM, CAGS
Director of Design and Implementation
As Director of Design and Implementation, Mara builds staff capacity to develop and disseminate tools, and provide technical assistance services to help youth-serving organizations become relationship-rich organizations. Mara has more than 20 years of experience in improving educational services for students in a variety of settings ranging from schools (public, private, and charter), to out-of-school-time programs, wellness/athletic programs, and summer camps. Her expertise lies in designing and implementing strength-based approaches and research-informed tools to strengthen relationships, and using data to drive organizational improvement. Prior to joining Search Institute, she served as a Senior Technical Assistance Consultant for the American Institutes for Research in Chicago. Schanfield received her master’s degree in education and counseling from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mara says she joined Search Institute to focus on what matters most to her – strong relationships.
