Brian Lindberg, J.D.

Nonprofit Executive (Retired)

Immediately prior to his retirement in December 2024, Brian was the Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of NMDP (formerly Be The Match and National Marrow Donor Program), the world’s most diverse registry of volunteer stem cell donors for patients in need of life-saving transplant. Over the course of his two decades with NMDP, an organization named one of “The World’s Most Innovative Companies” by Fast Company magazine, he established the in-house legal department and served as the organization’s chief lawyer, while directing myriad strategic and support functions. In addition to overseeing the Office of General Counsel, he also led NMDP’s Government Affairs function, the Contracts and Procurement department, as well as its Quality and Regulatory Affairs department. He was primarily responsible for the organization’s public policy agenda, with focus on federal legislative and executive agency activists across the enterprise. Throughout his tenure with NMDP, Brian served as the institution’s Organizational Official for all matters related to the safety and compliance with requirements applicable to research involving human subjects.

Brian has deep experience in corporate governance matters, both as a board member and as legal counsel to multiple boards over the course of his career.

Prior to joining NMDP, he served as assistant general counsel (clinical advisory counsel) for Allina Hospitals & Clinics. He began his legal career in large firm private practice.

Brian received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and American Racial and Multicultural Studies from St. Olaf College, and his Juris Doctor degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
