Restorative Justice Circle
Involve the class in repairing harm after a violation of community norms.
Restorative justice is an approach to repairing damage after an incident affecting an individual or group. It stands in contrast to more punitive measures that do not allow students to grow by acknowledging mistakes and endeavoring to right wrongs.
Restorative justice circles can be used to de-escalate or resolve conflict. They require open communication and promote shared accountability, trust, and community. Circles can also be used proactively to strengthen relationships so the community is prepared to process difficult events, such as a loss or a traumatic event. They are grounded in ritual and strive
for healing.
