Essentials of Asset Building for Trainers and Facilitators

Learn how to build and deepen meaningful relationships in your community. Essentials of Asset Building for Trainers and Facilitators is a two-day “training of trainers” workshop, that will prepare facilitators and trainers from your organization to lead two Search Institute designed workshops that introduce the Developmental Assets Framework to their community. It is a proven way to identify and build the relationships and contexts that help young people develop into successful, contributing adults.

Building a Strong Foundation

Research consistently shows that young people from all backgrounds do better when they have a strong foundation of Developmental Assets® in their lives. Developmental Assets® are a set of 40 research-based strengths and supports that enable young people to develop into successful and contributing adults. We want to introduce as many people as possible to the powerful role that asset builders play in young people’s lives.

This training opportunity will prepare participants to deliver two core Search Institute designed workshops to their own organization.

This workshop introduces the Developmental Assets Framework® and the powerful role of individual asset builders in the lives of youth. This workshop will help participants:

  • Identify the characteristics of effective asset builders and their own personal strengths and challenges

  • Understand “circles of influence” and identify those circles with potential for asset building

  • Make and share a personal commitment to asset-building action

This workshop prepares participants to build asset-building strategies within communities, schools, and youth-serving organizations This workshop will help participants:

  • Discuss how the assets relate to other positive youth development efforts

  • Develop practical next steps as they meet the unique needs of any audience

  • Download free curriculum materials to use in your own presentations

"The big idea is simple, but so important to remember. We all have the power to make a difference to our communities."
